aerops was founded in 2018 by pilots to solve a simple problem: the cumbersome payment of landing fees at airfields. With the aerops app, pilots could pay their fees digitally for the first time—without having to go to the operations office or pay in cash.
The solution quickly spread to airfields in Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. During the 2021 COVID-19 pandemic, aerops became the preferred system for contactless payments at many airfields.
As usage grew, airports increasingly requested additional features. The system was therefore gradually expanded, including PPR requests, fuel pump activation via the app, and interfaces to existing airport systems.
At the same time, it became clear that many airfields were still operating with outdated on-premise systems. This led to the next step: the development of our own Airport Management System (AMS).
In parallel, in 2021, DFS Aviation Services commissioned aerops to take over fee management for the FSAAKV. Since then, aerops has been invoicing approach fees at all regional airports operated by DFS Aviation Services.
In 2025, the rollout of AMS Enterprise followed, which is now in use at more than 40 airports in Germany.
With the founding of aerops America Inc. in 2026, the company is preparing to enter the U.S. market, where landing fees are also increasingly being introduced.
Investors include, among others, Smudo, rapper of Die Fantastischen Vier, as well as Sebastian Moser, co-founder of Quandoo.
